The colors of the patina are natural, all processes have no harsh chemicals used.  
A thin layer of lacquer covers the brass/copper blanks to save the natural color of the patina. 
You can add additional layers of lacquer to further protect the finish. 
The plate of this gauge is perfect for creating a jewelry set (pendant, ring, earrings etc.) or can be used for creating decorative elements for accessories.
