The colors of the patina are natural, all processes no harsh chemicals are used.  
A thin layer of lacquer covers the brass/copper blanks to save the patina's natural color. 
You can add additional layers of lacquer to protect the finish further. 
The plate of this gauge is perfect for creating a jewelry set (pendant, ring, earrings, etc.) or can be used for creating decorative elements for accessories.
