The colors of the patina are natural, and all processes have no harsh chemicals used.  
The brass/copper blanks are covered by a thin layer of lacquer to save the patina's natural color. 
You can add additional layers of lacquer to protect the finish further. 
The plate of this gauge is perfect for creating a jewelry set (pendant, ring, earrings etc.) or can be used for creating decorative elements for accessories.
