The colors of the patina are natural, and all processes have no harsh chemicals used.  
The brass/copper beads are covered by a thin layer of lacquer to save the natural color of the patina. 
You can add additional layers of lacquer to further protect the finish. 
The plate of this gauge is perfect for creating a jewelry set (necklace, bracelet, etc.) or can be used for creating decorative elements for accessories.
