The patina's colors are natural, and no harsh chemicals are used.  
A thin layer of lacquer covers the brass/copper blanks to save the natural color of the patina. 
You can add additional layers of lacquer to protect the finish further. 
The plate of this gauge is perfect for creating a jewelry set (pendant, ring, earrings, etc.) or can be used for creating decorative elements for accessories.
